Why businesses need network protection

Through the past few years virus and malware threats have become so eminent that several thousands of company networks have become vulnerable and have been compromised. Network protection cannot be left to software and a standard firewall feature any longer. The threat discussed below requires more than the normal network protection to prevent intrusion.

Trojan Horses

As the name suggests the Trojan Horse seems like a legitimate file and the unsuspected user opens it. While enjoying a good laugh at a picture attached to an email or downloading freeware, the user is in fact opening the door for the Trojan Horse which enters the computer and spreads through the network. In many cases the user even forwards the file to colleagues who all become distributors of the malicious code which infects their computers to the extent that full formatting may be required to get rid of it. Often when this is the case all the computers in the office may already be infected. The problem with this is that valuable data may be lost or even stolen in the process.

Websites such as Youtube are places where employees find videos to share. An example is the Sadam Hussein Trojan Horse which has caused havoc on company computers around the world.

How to prevent this

The only real cure is total network protection. This may mean the blocking of social media sites and places such as Youtube altogether. A policy must be set for safe browsing and no freeware must be downloaded. Unfortunately employees don’t always listen and as such the administrator requires additional help in the form of WDGuard, the Wireless Dimensions solution to complete control of monitoring, blocking and allowing sites, browsing and emails at your company. Don’t compromise; prevent data loss and confidentiality breaches. Contact us for a quote or more information on the WDGuard network protection solution.
